Learn More About Us
We are a congregation of about 90 families. Our pastor/pastoral leader is Fr. Phillip Reaves. The first Catholic Church built in Monticello a little more than two decades ago, St. Mark's parish has more than doubled in size, outgrown its church building twice and added classrooms and a larger parish hall. St. Mark's sits in Arkansas, a state in which Catholics make up only three percent of the two and one half million inhabitants. Ground was broken for the "new" church in June, 1985 only ten years after Glemnary Missioners of Cincinnati, Ohio had taken responsibility for pastoral and missionary work for Ashley, Bradley and Drew County. That project was completed in 1997.
Following decade-long fundraising project a newer sancutary was completed in July of 2008.
Monticello is located in Drew County. The priest of St. Mark's also serves at Holy Child Catholic Church in Dumas, Arkansas and St. Luke's Catholic Church in Warren, Arkansas. Bilingual Mass is held at Holy Child at 4:00 PM each Sunday. Mass is held in Spanish at St. Luke's Sundays at 11:00 AM, and in English at 5:30 PM on Thursday.
Confession is offered 30 minutes prior to each Mass on Sundays.
